Ty Baribeau on fire as Philly United starts season strong

Fellow fans, today it’s important to talk to you about the great performances of Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer (MLS), and in particular, the one who shined, Ty Baribeau!
Last season, Philadelphia Union met their Waterloo and missed the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2017, which left a bit of a loss in the hearts of fans. But all is not the same this new season! In the home opener of the 2025 season, Philadelphia Union turned the tables on FC Cincinnati with a 4-1 thrashing at a sold-out Subaru Park! The win was no fluke, as they beat Orlando City 4-2 on the road in the first round of the tournament, making it two wins in a row and instantly turning heads across MLS!
Speaking of Philly United’s great play, I have to mention Ty Balibo. The hottest striker in the league at the moment is simply the team’s “goal machine”! He scored twice in the first round of the tournament, and then scored a hat trick in the second round, scoring 5 goals in two games. What a concept! He’s only the fourth player in MLS history to score five goals in the first two games of a season, putting him in the same league as legends like Javier “Little Pea” Hernandez, Ayo Akinola, and Brian Ching, and that’s a testament to his accomplishments.
It may come as a surprise to you that Balibo had to sit on the bench for most of last season. But opportunities always come to those who are ready for them, and with Julian Carranza moving to Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, Balibo finally waited for his own stage. He seized the opportunity and gave back to the team and the fans with one brilliant goal. Talking about his outstanding form, Balibo said that confidence is the key, and this confidence comes from the coach’s trust, the support of teammates, and of course, his own strong heart.
The new season brings a new coach and a lot of new faces to Philadelphia Union, with 19-year-old local talent Frankie Westerfeld, Serbian midfielder Jovan Lukic from FK Spartak Subotica, and club-record transfer fee Bruno Damiani all making their home debuts. Damiani scored his first goal for Philadelphia Union near the end of the game to add the icing on the cake.
For now, Philadelphia Union is showing a lot of fight under new manager Bradley Carnell. Coach Carnell said after the game that the most important thing to him is that the ball goes into the net, and that once the transition game pattern that the team adheres to is executed, the cooperation between players will flow. This proved to be the case as the team scored 8 goals from open play in the two games, 5 of which came from Baribeau, which is quite an impressive statistic!
Next up, Philadelphia Union will face the New England Revolution on the road on March 8th. With their current form, I’m sure many fans, like me, are looking forward to a third consecutive win for them to continue their journey in the new season! Do you all think Philadelphia Union can continue their winning streak? Will Balibo continue his hot scoring form? Feel free to discuss in the comments section!
